Sunset Mesa Software

Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 20, 2026

This policy explains what data Sunset Mesa Software collects, why, and what we do with it. It covers this website (sunsetmesasoftware.com) and our desktop apps, including Rewire Text. Our other apps work the same way, so this policy applies to them too unless an app states otherwise.

Sunset Mesa Software is a trade name of Sunset Mesa Ventures LLC, based in Colorado, USA. In this policy, "we," "us," and "our" mean Sunset Mesa Ventures LLC.

The short version

  • We do not sell your personal data, and we never have.
  • Our apps have no accounts and no sign-up.
  • The text you transform in our apps is processed on your own machine, or sent directly to the AI provider you choose. It never passes through our servers.
  • We collect only what we need to run the website, send updates you asked for, and sell the apps.

The website

When you visit this site, the following services may receive limited data:

  • Analytics (Google Analytics). We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used (pages viewed, rough location, browser and device type, referring links). This uses cookies and your IP address. We use it in aggregate to improve the site, not to identify you personally.
  • Fonts (Google Fonts). Pages load the Inter typeface from Google Fonts, so Google may receive your IP address when fonts are fetched.
  • Hosting (Cloudflare Pages). The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes standard server and security logs (including IP addresses) to deliver pages and protect against abuse.
  • Email signup (MailerLite). If you enter your email to get updates, we store your address with MailerLite, our email provider. Signup is double opt-in, so you confirm by clicking a link in a confirmation email before we send anything else. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email.
  • Checkout (Creem). When you buy an app, payment is handled by Creem, our merchant of record. Creem collects the billing details needed to process the sale and handle tax. We do not see or store your full payment card details. See the Terms of Service for the commercial terms of a purchase.

The desktop apps

Our apps are built to keep your data on your machine. Using Rewire Text as the example:

  • No account, no sign-up. You do not create an account to use the app.
  • Your text stays with you. Deterministic transforms (case conversion, encoding, formatting, and the like) run entirely on your device, with no network access. When you use an AI transform, the selected text goes directly from the app to the AI provider you have configured. It never goes through our servers.
  • Bring Your Own Key. AI features use an API key that you supply. Your keys are stored securely in your operating system's keychain or credential store on your own machine. We never receive them. If you run a local model (for example through Ollama), nothing leaves your computer at all.
  • Usage stats stay local. The app may record token counts and estimated AI cost so you can see your usage. This is kept in a local database on your device and is not sent to us. You can reset it from within the app.
  • No usage telemetry. The app does not send us analytics about how you use it or what you transform.
  • License validation. If you buy a license, the app validates your license key when you activate it, and again periodically when it starts up. This goes through our API server (described below), which checks with Creem. It confirms your purchase and lets you move a license between devices. If your computer is offline, the app keeps working through a grace period of several days. License validation never transmits the text you transform.

When you use an AI transform, your text is handled by whichever AI provider you chose (such as OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google), under that provider's own privacy policy and terms. We are not a party to that exchange.

Our API server

Some app functions talk to our own server at api.sunsetmesasoftware.com. Its main job today is licensing: it validates license keys with Creem on our behalf, so the apps do not have to ship Creem's credentials. Over time it may handle other dynamic functions too, such as email signups and keeping the apps' list of available AI models current.

This server is stateless. It passes requests through and does not store your personal data, and it never receives the text you transform.

Cookies

The website uses cookies for Google Analytics, as described above. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The desktop apps do not use cookies.

How we share data

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it for advertising. We share data only with the service providers listed above (Google, Cloudflare, MailerLite, and Creem) so they can perform their part of running the site and selling the apps, and where required by law.

Your choices and rights

You can unsubscribe from our emails at any time using the link in any message. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal data we hold about you, or to object to its processing. To make a request, email us at the address below and we will respond. Because our apps store your data on your own device, you control that data directly: you can clear usage stats, remove API keys, and uninstall the app at any time.

Data location

We are based in the United States, and our service providers may process data in the United States and other countries. By using the site, you understand that your information may be processed where these providers operate.

Children

Our website and apps are not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site and our apps change. When we do, we will revise the "last updated" date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be made clear on this page.
